Baltimore Birthday

For Greyson's birthday, we headed up to Baltimore to see an O's game. We started our trip on Thursday with a short drive to Richmond where we had dinner with some of our friends that we have not seen in a while, Matt and Tammy. They have two little girls, Emily and Kaitlyn. Emily is just a little younger than Greyson, and Kaitlyn is a little younger than Parker.

It was definitely interesting watching the two boys figure out how to play with two girly girls as dressing up in princess outfits was not an option. They colored for a while, ate pistachios in the front yard, and goofed off at the dinner table. Before long, my rowdy boys were a little rough for the sweet Griffin girls, and after burgers on the grill and a Fancy Nancy story, we headed out to a local hotel to crash for the night.

The next morning, we slept in, ate some Mexican for lunch, and then jumped on the road to Baltimore. The drive was great until we learned that the hotel's directions took us through the ghetto and then the long way into the city. We arrived at what we thought was the Marriott at which I had made out reservations, only to find that we were supposed to be at another one about ten blocks away and that we passed on the way into town. The one we drove to was the nicer of the two, and the man at the front desk gave us a more expensive room for the same price so that we did not have to drive back. Whew! Our view was amazing....it looked out over the Inner Harbor, and at night, it was so beautiful.

My sister and Dave came in from Philly to join us for the game. We headed to the ballpark, which was teeming with Yankees fans. The game was spectacular, even though the O's lost Greyson was bummed about the loss, but he was stoked to see his favorite player hit a home run. He made a sign that said "I Love Os," and he continued to wave it until the bitter end. We definitely pigged out on lemon ice, ice cream and chicken fingers, but it was treat day, so no worries.

Today, we were going to hit the Aquarium, but it was packed. So, we lunched at ESPN Zone and then played in the ESPN arcade for over an hour. The boys loved it! Then we had ice cream and bought some O's souvenirs. By that time, it was time to head home. Let's just say that the drive home was less than enjoyable, but we are home safe and sound and we had a great time in Baltimore for Greyson's birthday.
