Well, with Parker in a cast, our weekend activities are limited at best. Last week we were searching for something to do, so on a whim, we headed down to Waterside to ride the ferry across the Elizabeth River. Before boarding, the boys ran around on the dock chasing the seagulls and hunting for crabs. They found one lone Jimmy swimming in the water. Greyson informed me that he would jump in and grab him if I wanted him to do so. Of course I said thanks but no thanks!
When we got on the boat we headed up the stairs and sat on the bench right in front of the paddle wheel. The boys were enthralled with the watching the wheel and the pattern the water made as it fell from the paddles. We looked at the navy ships and tried to spot fish in the water. When we got off the boys said, "that was so cool!"
We then tried to head into Waterside for some lunch, but a power outage sent us to the mall. We munched at the Cheescake Factory and then spent some time in Barnes and Noble. Greyson spent his birthday gift certificate on a book about dogs, and Parker picked out a Scooby Doo book. After that Parker said his foot hurt from walking, so we headed home for some down time.
That night we had a nice family dinner and relaxed. Nothing like an easy, laid back weekend!

Oh, I love that ferry! We rode that across the last time we did the Children's Museum, which has been over a year now. I'm ready to go do it again. And anything that ends with lunch at the Cheesecake Factory sounds fabulous to me!!! You DID Order cheesecake, right?
We have never done the ferry--HOW FUN!!!!
The ferry is so fun!! We haven't done that in awhile. What a great idea. It's a little adventure in itself going over to Portsmouth.
Aaaahhh! We must have been there at the same time (or it's been happening a lot!) because the same thing happened to us. We ended up detouring to the Mall! We were so excited to eat at one of the restaurants outside on a beautiful day-Oh well! Glad the boys enjoyed the Ferry-of course Grayson, and Trevor, do too!
